PDK Future Educators

The PDK Educational Foundation awards more than 30 scholarships each year to prospective educators, with awards ranging from $500 to $2000. These scholarships are funded through the generosity of donors. PDK uses one application for all Prospective Educator Scholarships.

Eligibility 
PDK Prospective Educator Scholarships are available for high school seniors as well as current undergraduate students. PDK International is a family of education associations, which includes  PDK International,  Educators Rising, and Pi Lambda Theta.  To be eligible for a scholarship, you must be a member of at least one of the associations:
- PDK International, a professional association for educators that works to cultivate great educators for tomorrow while continuing to ensure high-quality education for today. Undergraduate and graduate students are invited to  join us  in this important work.
- Educators Rising,  a  free  membership organization for precollegiate young people exploring the path to great teaching and the adults directly supporting them on their journeys. If you are not a member, you can join Educators Rising for  free.
- Pi Lambda Theta, a prestigious honor society serving to recognize outstanding preservice and practicing educators.  If you’re pursuing a career in education and have an undergraduate  cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above, you’re eligible and can  apply for membership today.

Submission Requirements
  • Completed Online Application form.
  • Transcript(s) as evidence of your academic success. (Please save it with a file name starting with your last name, e.g., Jones_transcript.pdf.)
  • Personal Statement, no longer than 500 words, sharing a story about yourself that relates to why you want to become a teacher. Consider sharing about a personal challenge you’ve overcome, an experience with a teacher or other adult who inspires you, or other experience that supports your decision to become an educator.
  • List of activities where you have worked with others in a teaching or learning capacity, including any education-focused clubs or organizations you belong to, as well as service activities or clubs, noting any leadership roles you have held.
  • List of other significant extracurricular activities, such as employment and sports, not mentioned above, noting any leadership roles you have held.
  • Letter of recommendation written by a person familiar with your academic abilities and school activities, and who can address your interest in teaching and the qualities that will make you a successful educator, including your gift for teaching, motivation, relative maturity, integrity, independence, originality, initiative, enthusiasm, leadership potential, capacity for growth, and special talents.  (Please save it with a file name starting with your last name, e.g., Jones_letter.pdf.)

Hamilton Relay

Eligibility Criteria
•               Applicant must be a graduating high school senior who is deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind or has difficulty speaking.
•               Applicant must be a resident of one of the following states: CA, DC, GA, ID, IA, KS, LA, ME, MD, MA, MT, NM, NV, PA, RI, TN, UT or VA. 
•               Applicant must complete and submit application, essay, signed talent release form and letter of recommendation to be eligible.
•               Scholarship will be awarded to the selected applicant in each state after the Hamilton Relay Scholarship Committee reviews all applications submitted on or before the posted deadline.


Guidelines for Hamilton Relay Scholarship
1.            Application packet must be completed and postmarked by March 1, 2018 and must include all of the following items:
a.    Scholarship Application
b.    Letter of Recommendation from faculty staff member at high school or from employer
c.     One page essay as required (topic assigned on application)
d.    Signed Talent Release Form

Hybrid Twinning Program Scholarship (HBT) at Shibaura Institute of Technology Japan



The Shibaura Institute of Technology abbreviated as Shibaura kōdai is a private university of Technology in Japan, with campuses located in Tokyo and Saitama. It is the only private technology university in Japan to be selected for the Top Global University Project. The university ranks moderately high in the Japanese university rankings, with an average selection rate of 25% based on entrance examinations.  Applications are invited for Hybrid Twinning Program Scholarship (HBT) at Shibaura Institute of Technology, Japan for the academic year 2018/2019. The students from partner universities of HBT are eligible. All students completed the Master’s program at SIT will be designed to enroll in its Doctor’s Program through the entrance examination for the Doctor’s program and study for another three years toward his/her SIT Doctor’s Degree.

Requirement:
  • Be either a student or an academic staff of the partner universities
  • Have completed one academic year in the Master’s course (graduate level) at home universities or held the Master’s degree (or the equivalent) as of September 2018
  • Be under 33 years of age as of April 1st, 2018
  • Have held academic performance of at least top 10% of the class both at the undergraduate and the graduate level
  • Have good English skill – preferably 550 scores in TOEFL PBT (or 80 scores in TOEFL iBT)
  • Be physically and mentally healthy

Application Documents:
The required documents should be provided in English except for the Master’s thesis. If the original copy of the document(s) is available only in applicant’s mother language, the English translation of the document(s) shall be attached to the original copy.
  • Application form – Hybrid Twinning Program, SIT – prescribed form
  • Field of Study and Study Program – prescribed form
  • 5 photos – from shoulders above, size: 4.5 x 3.5cm, applicant’s name on the back
  • Clear copy of passport –page showed the applicant’s photo and data
  • Copy of the Birth certificate, family registration (or the equivalent)
  • Certificate of Bachelor’s degree (or the equivalent)
  • Certificate of Master’s degree if any (or the equivalent)
  • Official academic records of undergraduate course

  • SIT entrance fee : 260,000yen
  • SIT tuition fee : 1,305,000yen/year
  • Living allowance: 100,000yen/month, at a maximum for four years starting from October 2018.
  • Reward for Leaning Facilitator: 42,000yen/month

Postdoctoral Scholarship in Epidemiology and Public Health at Umea University in Sweden



Umeå University is a university in Umeå in the mid-northern region of Sweden. The university was founded in 1965 and is the fifth oldest within Sweden's present borders. As of 2015, Umeå University has nearly 31,000 registered students (approximately 16,000 full-time students), including those at the postgraduate and doctoral level. It has more than 4,000 employees, half of which are teachers/researchers, including 368 professors. 
Internationally, the university is known for research relating to the genome of the Populus tree and the Norway Spruce, and its highly ranked Institute of (industrial) Design. In the latest (2012) Academic Ranking of World Universities, the university was ranked between places 201–300 of all universities in the world and at the same time by the QS World University Rankings the university was ranked 297th in the world (overall). In the latest (2012/2013) Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2012/2013 Umeå University was ranked between 251 and 275 out of all global universities.  Umea University is pleased to offer Postdoctoral Position in Epidemiology and Public Health Starting in early 2018. International students are eligible to applyfor this position.

Requirement:
To be eligible for this scholarship you must meet the following requirements:
  • A person who has taken a doctoral degree in epidemiology or public health or a related discipline, no later than three years before the last date of the application is qualified to apply.
  • Applicants should have competence in epidemiology and quantitative data analyses, for example with STATA. They also should have good skills in written and spoken English. Applicants will be further judged on their scientific skills, experience in environmental epidemiology, handling register data and working in an interdisciplinary setting. Experience with the software R is a merit.
  • The postdoctoral position is a full time (100%) two-year position.
  • The employment is expected to start in April 2018. The postdoc will be affiliated both with CEDAR and with the unit of Epidemiology and Global Health.

Women in Technology Scholarship

Visionary Integration Professionals (VIP), a leading performance delivery and technology consulting firm that helps organizations better align strategy to execution, is pleased to announce it is accepting applications for the 11th annual Women in Technology Scholarship (WITS) program. Over the past decade, VIP has been proud to support over 90 women as they pursue a career in select technology fields.

WITS offers multiple scholarships to women pursuing a career in computer science, information technology (IT), management information systems, or another related field. Applicants must be enrolled at, or accepted to, a two or four-year college or university in the United States for the 2018 school year.
